Zion Lutheran was founded in Worcester in 1914 by Swedish immigrants relocated to the Greendale section by the Norton Company (now Saint Gobain).
Since then, Zion has become a blended fellowship of peoples from many cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs. The scope has expanded from serving the immediate spiritual needs of Scandinavian New
Americans to: annual co-sponsorship of New Americans from around the world with Lutheran Social Services, support for two AA groups, community outreach and shelter facilities for displaced families,
to name but a few.
Over the years, Zion has remained Biblically-centered and committed to DOING WHAT MATTERS. One thing we have learned is that what many people need is someone who will listen to their concerns - someone they can turn to for support when the going gets tough. Our parish is truly a community where people can feel safe, and grace guides our presence for others.
